Dawn of new ice age for sports stars>
People have used curative powers of cold from old times to alleviate pain and inflammation, to improve health, harden and revitalize the body and prevent diseases.
More than a hundred years ago a German scientist, parson Sebastian Kneip jumped into the ice-cold Danube to cure tuberculosis and demonstrated that even most grave disease can be overcome by stimulating self-healing powers. Later on he developed a system of hardening, which is still used in the modern medicine.
As the progress advanced, new cryoagents were researched to create the temperatures never experienced by man before and therefore more efficient.
During 1970s a Japanese professor Tosimo Yamauchi developed new method of therapy with super-low temperatures (up to −180˚С). The results of his work speak for themselves: within 10 years his clinic received more than 2,000 patients with rheumatic diseases at the advanced stage. About 80% of them almost completely fought off the pain and returned to wholesome life.
First Yamauchi read a report about his method in 1979 at the rheumatic congress in Wiesbaden. The pragmatic Germans whose traditions in cold therapy remained incommutable, quickly grasped the logic and the clinical sense of the idea. And in year 1984 in the clinic of Professor Reinhard Fricke a cryotherapeutical module started working, providing 100 sessions per day. At present in the Western Europe there are 400 cryotherpeutical centers, where millions of people can undergo sanative procedures.
The medical efficiency of general air cryotherapy is determined not only by minimum air temperature level in the area where cryotherapeutic modality is applied, but also by the speed of temperature descent.
